Eugeniy
CHEVKENOV
was born on March 8th 1971 in Plovdiv,
Bulgaria in a well-known family of musicians. He took his first violin
lesson at age of 6 and gave his first concert as a soloist with a
symphony orchestra when he was 13 years old. After winning First
Prizes both at The National Violin Competition and The National Chamber
Music Competition at age of 18, he received many more international
prestigious Awards. Through the years he studied with some great
teachers - Darina Dankova, E.-M. Popova, Angel Stankoff, Oleg Kryssa,
Josef Sivo, Gerald Schubert, Alfred Staar. He holds Master of Arts
Degrees from The National Academy of Music Sofia and The University of
music and performing Arts Vienna.
During his studies for several seasons he was a violinist of Vienna
Philharmonic, taking part at Salzburger Festspiele, CD-recordings and
Concert-tours of this exceptional orchestra. In 2000 he was awarded
Honor-Citizenship by the Government of Austria and the Mayor of Vienna,
for his extraordinary achievements as a musician.
His exceptional career has brought him to perform in over 30 countries
worldwide (USA, Japan, China, Mexico, the most European countries) in
some of the most prestigious and famous Halls:
Carnegie Hall New York, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Bellas
Artes Mexico City, Osaka Symphony Hall, Tokio Metropolitan Arts Center.
In 1999 he recorded for “Gramolla - Vienna” Vivaldi's “Four Seasons”,
in 2002 in Salzburg was produced his CD “Recital”, in 2005 the CD
“Eugenius” – at “Kalrec – Vienna”.
1997-2001 Chevkenov teaches at The Summer Academy at Theresianum,
Vienna. In 2000 he was appointed Professor at “Gustav
Mahler Music Conservatory”, Vienna and has been teaching there until
September 2011. Since October 2011 he is Principal and Violin-Professor
at Europe Music Academy - EMA Vienna. He has given Master-classes
in USA, China, Japan, Austria, Bulgaria and Greece and had the honor of
being a Jury-Member at “Franz Schubert International Competition”
Russe 2005 and “Dobrin Petkov International Violin Competition” Plovdiv
2007.
Chevkenov founded in 2002 “Ensemble Concertante Vienna” and won
international recognition as its Soloist and Conductor, in Europe,
America and even in China, where the Ensemble played at the revealing
of the Johann Strauss-Monument in Beijing. In 2006 & 2007 The
President of Austrian Parliament Mrs. Barbara Prammer took “Ensemble
Concertante Vienna” under her Patronage.
